Bundesliga: Eurowings will be the official airline of Borussia Dortmund from 2016-17

Eurowings, a low cost subsidiary of the German airline group Lufthansa, has become the "champion partner" and the official airline of Borussia Dortmund (Bundesliga) from the 2016-17 season, on 18/05/2016. The duration and the amount of the partnership was not specified.

Eurowings gets visibility on the advertising boards, the giant screens and the benches in Signal Iduna Park (81,359 capacity). The airline and the club planned to activate their partnership mainly on the digital platforms of both parties. For travel in Germany and Europe, Eurowings will also provide Borussia Dortmund with an Airbus A320 decorated with the club's colours.

Eurowings succeeds Turkish Airlines as the official airline of Borussia Dortmund. The annual amount of that partnership, covering the 2013-2016 period, was estimated at €3.3m. "The partnership with Borussia along with its huge fan community will help us to make the Eurowings brand better known across Europe and to strengthen in a likeable and innovative way," said Karl Ulrich Garnadt, member of the board of Lufthansa, on 18/05/2016.
