SD Eibar: Amaia Gorostiza, successor to A. Aranzabal, is the only woman to head a Top 5 club

Amaia Gorostiza has become the new president of SD Eibar (Liga BBVA), announced the club, after a meeting of the board of directors on 23/05/2016. She is the first woman to head up the club since its inception in 1940.

Amaia Gorostiza, a member of the of the SD Eibar board since 2014, is part of the board of directors of several Spanish companies. She succeeds Alex Aranzabal as the president of Eibar, who had led the Basque club since 2009, when SD Eibar played in the Spanish third division. The Basque club finished in 14^th place (43 points) in the 2015-16 Liga BBVA table, and will remain in the league for their third season in the Spanish top flight (the 2016-17 Liga BBVA).

"We will maintain the strong values of the Eibar model. Honesty, discretion, and a good work ethic is a winning combination. There will not be a project for the new president, but the continuity of a project within the family that we have formed, and I will have the honour of chairing it," said Amaia Gorostiza, the only woman to hold the presidential position of a club in the Top 5 European leagues, on…
