England: Tottenham will play at Wembley for the 2016-17 Champions League, with an option for 2017-18

Tottenham Hotspur FC, 3rd in the 2015-16 Premier League table, will play their Champions League matches at Wembley Stadium (90,000 capacity) during the 2016-17 season, announced the club on 28/05/2016. The North London club has reached an agreement with Wembley National Stadium Limited, the operating company of the stadium (a subsidiary of the FA), to play their European matches at the eponymous stadium.

White Hart Lane (36,200 capacity), the current home of Tottenham Hotspur, will see its capacity reduced by about 4,000 seats in 2016-17 due to work in the North Stand. The club will still play its 2016-17 Premier League matches at the historic ground, but decided to play at Wembley Stadium for the Champions League due to the need to meet UEFA standards.

The agreement between Tottenham Hotspur and Wembley National Stadium Limited has an option for the London club to play its matches there during the 2017-18 season, during which a new phase of stadium renovation will begin, which will eventually increase the capacity of the stadium to 61,000 at the White Hart Lane.
