Real Madrid: club win its 11^th Champions League title, and increases its lead over other clubs

Real Madrid CF (Liga BBVA) won the 2015-16 Champions League by defeating Atletico Madrid (1-1, 5-3 on penalties) at the San Siro in Milan (ITA), on 28/05/2016.

With now 11 titles, Real Madrid are the most crowned club in the history of the Champions League (including the old competition, the European Champion Clubs' Cup), ahead of AC Milan (Serie A TIM, seven titles), Liverpool FC and FC Barcelona (five titles each).

Winners of the first five editions of the European Champion Clubs' Cup from 1956 to 1960, then a sixth time in 1966, the Madrid club then waited 32 years to win the Champions League again in 1998. Appointed the best club in the twentieth century by FIFA, Real Madrid have won four titles in the early 21^st century: in 2000, 2002, 2014 and 2016.

Real Madrid are tied with Manchester United FC (Premier League), for the highest football club valuation, with an estimated value of €2.905bn, according to a study by audit firm KPMG, published on 26/05/2016.
