Spain finished in the top spot of the UEFA country coefficient rankings at the end of the 2015-16 season, which was updated by the ECA (UEFA itself has yet to post an updated table) after the final of the Champions League, where Real Madrid CF were victorious against city rivals Club Atlético de Madrid (1-1 a.e.t., 5-3 on penalties), on 28/05/2016.

With 105.713 points, Spain are far ahead of Germany (80.177), England (76.284), Italy (70.439) and Portugal (53.082). The only change in the Top 5 in relation to the end of the 2014-15 season: Germany overtake England and are in second place, while France remain in sixth (52.749 points) and Russia remain in seventh (51,082), followed by Ukraine (8th, 44.883), and Belgium (9th, 40.000), who have passed their neighbours the Netherlands (10th, 35.563).

Notably, no changes are expected for the number of allocated clubs to the 2017-18 Champions League season (pending confirmation of the competition's rules for the next cycle). Spain, Germany, and England all maintain four Champions League slots; Italy, Portugal and France maintain 3 slots…
