Deloitte's Annual Review of Football Finance 2016

The 98 clubs of the five major European championships (Premier League, Bundesliga, Liga BBVA, Serie A TIM and Ligue 1) totalled €12bn in revenue in 2014-15, states the 2016 edition of the "Annual Review of Football Finance", produced by the British office of Deloitte, an audit and consulting firm, and published on 02/06/2016. This total has increased by 9% compared to 2013-14 (€11.3bn).

The Premier League is ranked first out of the Top 5 European leagues, with its clubs accumulating the highest combined turnover in 2014-15, with €4.4bn (+33% compared to 2013-14), which is more than 36% of the total turnover of 98 clubs in the Top 5.

The Bundesliga is ranked second with €2.392bn (+5%) in cumulative revenue, ahead of the Liga BBVA (€2.053bn, +6%) and the Serie A TIM (€1.792bn, +5%). Ligue 1 is placed in 5th position, and is the only championship in the Top 5 whose cumulative revenue declined in 2014-15 when compared to 2013-14 (€1.418bn, -5%).

89% of the additional €700m in turnover generated by clubs in the Top 5 in 2014-15 was used to cover the increase in player wage bills, said…
