The Germany - Hungary (2-0) friendly match at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen (GER) drew an average of 8.16 million viewers on the German public channel ZDF, on Saturday 04/06/2016 (kick-off at 18:00 CET). This figure represented an audience share of 44.2%.

A previous friendly match, in preparation for Euro 2016, between Germany - England (2-3), played in Berlin (GER), drew an average of 11.34 million viewers on the public television channel ZDF on Saturday 26/03/2016 (kick-off at 20:45 CET), according to German media reports.

This figure represented a 37.4% audience share, and allowed ZDF to achieve the best performance on the German prime time TV market on 26/03/2016. This is the second highest television audience in Germany in 2016, behind the final of the European Handball Championships between Germany - Spain (24-17) on 31/01/2016 (17:30 CET), which drew 12.96 million viewers on the public television channel ARD.
