Euro 2016: 1,200 military and 1,300 police reinforcements for the fan-zones in Paris and St-Denis

1,200 military personnel and an extra 1,300 police will be used as reinforcements in the Ile-de-France (the most populated region of France, which includes Paris) during Euro 2016, especially around the fan-zones at the Eiffel Tower in Paris and at the Légion d'Honneur park in Saint-Denis, announced Michel Cadot, the chief of Police in Paris, on 06/06/2016. These forces will supplement the 10,000 already deployed to maintain order in the Ile-de-France until 10/07/2016.

"We are fast tracking officers out of training so they can take part in this mission. Their number corresponds to 750. They will be in force from mid-June onwards," added Michel Cadot.

"I would like to ask the Mayor of Paris to close the fan-zone at the Eiffel Tower on days with games at the Parc des Princes and at the Stade de France, at least until 27/06/2016," wrote Michel Cadot in a note dated 26/05/2016 addressed to Bernard Cazeneuve, Minister of the Interior, and published by Le Point, on 02/06/2016.
