France - Romania: 14.4 million viewers on TF1, best audience in France since the 2014 World Cup

The opening match of Euro 2016, France - Romania (2-1) at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis), drew an average of 14.442 million viewers on the French private, free-TV channel TF1 on Friday 10/06/2016 (kick-off at 21:00 CET), according to data from Médiamétrie, the French institute for audience measurement.

This figure represented a 54.8% audience share, and a peak audience of 16.5 million viewers, which allowed TF1 to achieve the best performance in the French TV market for prime time on 10/06/2016. This is the best audience of 2016 for TF1 (all programmes) and the best audience for "les Blues" since the quarter-final of the 2014 World Cup, France - Germany (0-1), which drew an average of 16.9 million viewers on TF1, on 04/07/2014.

At Euro 2012, the first game for "les Blues", France - England (1-1), drew an average of 10.2 million viewers on 11/06/2012, with a 50.2% audience share.

72% of audience share was for men aged 15-34, TF1 posted on Twitter
