"An 87% increase in TV rights revenue for the Bundesliga (€1.16bn per season for domestic rights only for the 2017-2021 period), not very many people would have bet on such an increase," said Didier Quillot, the CEO of French LFP, on 14/06/2016.

"After this allocation of rights to the Bundesliga, France, for the 2016-2020 period, finds itself far from the other major European nations. We are the only major European country to earn less than a billion euros a year in TV rights. Posing the question about whether or not it was a good idea to sell our TV rights so early (the 2016 to 2020 period's TV rights were sold on 04/04/2014) is the same as asking whether the glass half empty and half full. A 22% increase in our rights revenue was good, but today it is clear it is far from good enough," added Didier Quillot.
