Bundesliga: BT Sport extends its TV rights deal in the UK and Ireland for the 2017-2021 period

British pay-TV channel, BT Sport extended its four season broadcasting rights deal in the United Kingdom and Ireland for the Bundesliga, announced the group on 14/06/2016. These rights were negotiated with DFL Sports Enterprises, the company that manages the commercial rights of the German Professional Football League. BT Sport's rights, valid for the 2013-2017 period, have now been extended until the end of the 2020-21 season. The amount of the acquisition was not disclosed.

In 2015-16, BT Sport broadcast a minimum of 115 Bundesliga matches live, 15 more than in 2013-14, and at least three matches per weekend. The rights of BT also included summaries of Bundesliga matches as well as the German Supercup, valid for all distribution platforms. Matches and summaries from the 2.Bundesliga have been integrated into the 2017-2021 cycle.
