Twitter: the maximum video length from to increase from 30 seconds to 140 seconds

The social network Twitter has decided to increase the maximum duration of videoson the platform from 30 seconds to 140 seconds (or 2 minutes, 20 minutes) for all users, the social network announced on 21/06/2016. This increase comes as the consumption of video content on Twitter increased by 60% in January 2016.

The verified accounts on Twitter have had the ability to publish content of up to ten minutes. Twitter announced that it will perform tests with designers to also post videos of 140 seconds in duration on Vine, a peripheral application of social network specifically for "gifs".

  • Twitter has acquired Magic Pony Technology, a UK start-up specialising in image processing based on artificial intelligence, on 20/06/2016.
  • This technology "will be used to improve our strengths in live video and to open up new creative possibilities for Twitter," stated the social network on 21/06/2016.
