eSports: Sky and ITV become shareholders of Ginx TV, British TV channel 100% dedicated to eSports

Ginx eSports TV, a British channel 100% dedicated to eSports, started broadcasting in the UK and Ireland, on 23/06/2016. The channel is born of a partnership between Ginx TV Ltd., specialising in the production of content around video games, Sky, and ITV, in effect from 16/06/2016. The British TV groups will take minority stakes in Ginx TV Ltd. to support its development.

Ginx TV became Ginx eSports TV, and broadcasts on Sky channel 470. Other partners: video game publishers Riot and Activision announced their collaboration for content production.

"Ginx eSports TV aims to add significant mainstream TV exposure to the fast growing eSports ecosystem. Complementing online streaming, with an entertainment-led approach, the launch on Sky and the rebrand across all our 37 million households allows us to help new audiences discover eSports and hopefully gives core fans a fresh perspective.
