Manchester City: the club organise a "hackathon" around player statistics (29-31/07/2016)

Manchester City FC (Premier League) have organised a hackathon (collaborative computer programming event, see below) over three days with the goal of "discovering a new vision with regards to the performance of players", at the City Football Academy, within the club's training centre, from 29 to 31/07/2016.

Manchester City will provide participants - professionals and students in the fields of technology, data handling and digital expertise - with exclusive statistics of 10 games from the 2015-16 season delivered by the Premier League, as well as data from statistic providers OptaPro and ChyronHego.

All participants will stay and eat for free with Manchester City at the training centre for the duration of the hackathon. The winners of the competition will win a sum of money (undisclosed) and experiences which "money can't buy", as well as the opportunity to further develop their application(s) produced during the hackathon.

Manchester City claim to be the first club to organise a hackathon, but were technically beaten to it by SM Caen (Ligue 1) in April 2016
