Euro 2016 : Michel Platini wants the same success for French football as in 1984

"1984 was a huge success, thanks to some really good footballers. Thirty-two years later, the same success for French football would be fantastic," said Michel Platini, captain of the French Euro '84 winning team and current president of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), at the presentation of Euro 2016's logo, in Paris on the 26/06/2013.

Three years after France were awarded the competition (the first to consist of 24 teams), on the 28/05/2010, and three years until the tournament begins (from 10/06/2016 to 10/07/2016), this presentation ceremony allowed Noël Le Graët, president of the FFF (French Football Federation), to thank UEFA and their president.

Looking at Euro 2012, co-hosted by Poland and Ukraine, with problems (particularly related to infrastructure) amplified by the economic crisis, and Euro 2020, for which UEFA has decided will take place in 13 cities in 13 different countries, Euro 2016 is a much less complicated tournament.
