Euro 2016: quarter-finalist teams have received €13.5m - €14.5m in prize money, +€4m for semi-finals

UEFA will distribute a total of €301m to the 24 participating teams in Euro 2016. This represents "a substantial increase", said UEFA on 11/12/2016, recalling that €196m had been distributed for Euro 2012 in Poland / Ukraine and €184m for Euro 2008 in Austria / Switzerland.

However, if this figure is calculated in terms of average per team -- with a final phase of the Euro tournament that has now increased from 16 teams in 2008 and 2012 to 24 in 2016 -- than the amount distributed by UEFA appears relatively stable: €11.5m in 2008, €12.25m in 2012, and €12.5m in 2016.

For Euro 2016 in France, each of the 24 qualified teams will first receive a participation bonus of €8m. For the three matches of the group stage, the sporting result bonuses are: €1m for a win and €500,000 for a draw.

No sporting bonuses based on match results are scheduled for the knockout rounds. However, each of the 16 teams qualified for the knockout round will receive €1.5m each; then the 8 teams of quarter-finals will each receive €2.5m; and then the 4 semi-finalists will each receive €4m each.
