Switzerland: Swisscom acquire domestic TV rights to the SFL from 2017 (€32m per year)

Swisscom has acquired the audiovisual rights to the Swiss first and second division championships - the Raiffeisen Super League (RSL) and Brack.ch Challenge League, respectively - from the 2017-18 season, announced Urs Schaeppi, CEO of Swisscom, when questioned by the newspaper "Finanz und Wirtschaft" on 29/06/2016. Swisscom will pay CHF 35m per year (€32.36m), an increase of 45.8%, according to Swiss media.

The broadcasting rights (domestic and international) to the Swiss first and second divisions from the 2017-18 season were awarded on 09/06/2016, announced the SFL on 10/06/2016. However, contracts must be "signed and ratified in good standing" before the Swiss League will officially announce the successful broadcasters.

  • The SFL had asked the interested broadcasters to respond to this tender in two options:
    • Variant A: a single time slot for the two matches scheduled on Saturday, and a single time slot also for the three matches on Sunday.
