Euro 2016: "25,000 Iceland shirts have already been sold" (Enzo Montrucchio, CEO of Errea France)

"The Icelandic Football Federation chose the design of the Iceland kit for Euro 2016 at the end of January 2016. In early February, Errea launched production of 20,000 shirts, all of which have already been sold. After the victory against Austria (2-1, in the group stage, on 22/06/2016) and the qualification for the Round of 16 (2-1 victory against England, on 27/06/2016), we launched a new production of 2000 shirts, which were delivered and sold immediately. In total, 25,000 Iceland shirts have already been produced and sold by Errea," said Enzo Montrucchio, the CEO of Errea France, to News Tank Football, on 01/07/2016.

However, Enzo Montrucchio places these figures in context: "With Euro 2016, Nike plans to sell 500,000 shirts of the French team; adidas, 1.3 million shirts of the German team..."

The Italian company Errea has partnered the KSI, the Icelandic Football Federation, since 2002. The parties extended their relationship in 2014, which now runs until 2019-20. "What I can tell you is that other manufacturers wanted to partner with Iceland, and (they) had made offers…
