Euro 2016: 17.2 million viewers for France-Iceland in France on M6 (audience share: 60%)

The final quarter-final of Euro 2016, France-Iceland (5-2) at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis), drew an average of 17.179 million viewers in France on the private, free-TV channel M6, on Sunday, 03/07/2016 (kick-off at 21:00 CET), according to data from Médiamétrie, the French institute of audience measurement.

This figure represented a 60% audience share, peaking at 19.3 million viewers, and enabled M6 to achieve the best performance in the French TV market for prime time on 03/07/2016.

This is the best audience for M6 since its creation in March 1987. This Euro 2016 quarter-final drew a larger audience than the quarter-final to featuring France at the 2014 World Cup, France-Germany (0-1), which drew an average of 16.9 million viewers on 04/07/2014 (kick-off at 18:00 CET), but with a better audience share of 72%.

The previous record for M6 was the third group stage match of Euro 2016, Switzerland-France (0-0, Group A), at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy (Lille), which drew an average of 13.442 million viewers, on Sunday, 19/06/2016 (kick-off at 21:00 CET), for an audience share of 48.6…
