Nike: +5.8% in turnover in 2016 (€29.2bn), -4.6% in "football" revenues (€1.93bn)

Nike achieved a turnover of $32.4bn (€29.16bn) in the 2016 financial year (from 01/06/2015 to 31/05/2016), up 5.8% (+12 % excluding currency effects) compared to 2015 ($30.6bn / €28.15bn), announced the US sports equipment brand on 28/06/2016.

The Nike brand accounts for 94.2% of group's revenues in 2016 ($30.5bn / €27.45bn), with the footwear brand Converse contributing the remainder ($1.96bn / €1.76bn, 5.8% of the total). While North America is the Nike brand's top market with $14.7bn in revenues (€13.2bn, +7%), the Chinese market has experienced the strongest growth, with revenues up 23% in 2016 to $3.07bn (€2.76bn).

The footwear sector (shoes) recorded nearly $19.9bn (€17.9bn) in revenue (+8%), representing 65.1% of the revenues of the Nike brand. The entire "football" range accounted for $2.14bn (€1.93bn) of "wholesale equivalent revenues", down 4.6% year-on-year, representing 7.85% of the total Nike brand ($27.25bn / €24.5bn).

Expenditures for "demand creation" - which covers "digital demand creation, sports marketing and brand events" - reached $873m (€785.7m), up 7%. The Nike…
