Bundesliga: "We must show that we give something back to society" (Christian Seifert, DFL)

"In terms of social responsibility, the 500 Bundesliga players earn very large sums of money and this is sometimes difficult to understand for the general public. We must show that we give something back to society. This is the role of our Bundesliga Foundation," said Christian Seifert (GER), CEO of the DFL, on 29/06/2016.

"Since 2009, we have invested €3.5m a year," he added at the discussion "Why and how was the Bundesliga reformed in 2001?", as part of the Convention of French Professional Football, organised by the Première Ligue, the new union of top French football clubs, in Cannes (FRA) on 28 and 29/06/2016.

"The Bundesliga Foundation has four categoriees: children, disabilities, integration and other sports. We must support the other sports that do not receive millions in TV rights, because those athletes also wear the national shirt," emphasised the leader of the German league.
