Euro 2016: Portugal-France final draws 20.8 million viewers in France on M6 (audience share: 72.9%)

The final of Euro 2016, Portugal - France (1-0, after extra time) at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis), drew an average of 20.827 million viewers in France (approximately 31.5% of the French population), with a peak audience of 23.4 million, on the private, free-TV channel M6, on Sunday, 10/07/2016 (kick-off at 21:00 CET), according to data from Médiamétrie, the French institute of audience measurement.

This figure represented a 72.9% audience share, and allowed M6 to break the channel's audience record - as well as record the best audience, in France, of the competition across all channels. This is also the fourth largest audience ever in French television. The best performance in French television was the semi-final of the 2006 World Cup, France-Portugal (1-0, on 05/07/2016), which drew an average 22.2 million viewers in France (audience share: 76.6%).

The final of Euro 2012, Spain - Italy (4-0) at the Olympic Stadium (Kiev), drew 12.9 million viewers on average in France, for a 48% audience share, on 01/07/2016.
