Euro 2016: UEFA to redistribute €100m to the clubs of the players who participated in the tournament

UEFA, the organiser of Euro 2016, will redistribute a total of €100m to the European clubs for the players who participated in the final, 24-team phase of tournament, which ended with Portugal defeating France in the final (1-0 after extra time), at the Stade de France (Saint-Denis), on 10/07/2016. This €100m represents 5.26% of the total revenue (€1.93bn) of Euro 2016, and 9.1% of the total expenses (€1.1bn).

€5,800 per player per day is the average amount that each European club will receive, announced the ECA at the end of its 16th General Assembly in Paris (FRA) on 08 and 09/02/2016, according to the three categories of countries established regarding remuneration.

The 2012 UEFA-ECA agreement also provides for €50m of compensation to European clubs for the use of their players during the qualification stage of Euro 2016 (2014 and 2015):
- approximately €4,000 per player per day for players that took part in 10 qualifying matches
- approximately €3,400 for players that participated in 12 matches (group phase of qualification + the qualification play-offs).
