Neymar case: dismissal announced for the player and his father, who were prosecuted for corruption

The case involving the Brazilian player Neymar and his father Neymar Da Silva Santos, accused of corruption and of having concealed the amount of the transfer of the player from Santos FC (Brasileirão Chevrolet) to FC Barcelona (LaLiga) in 2013, has received a dismissal, announced Spanish justice on 08/07/2016. However, their actions could still "be subject to criminal prosecution", stated the prosecutor of the Spanish High Court, which is in charge of the case.

The Brazilian investment fund DIS, which owned 40% of the sporting rights to Neymar at the time of his transfer to FC Barcelona, had filed a complaint against the player for "corruption and fraud". FC Barcelona had officially recorded the transfer of Neymar at €57m, while the actual amount was €83.3m, according to Spanish justice. DIS has accused Neymar and FC Barcelona of hiding the actual amount of the transfer in order to pay a lower amount of money than was due to the investment fund.
