Euro 2016: 155.04 million viewers in France watched the competition on TF1, 103.77 million on M6

The French private, free-TV group TF1, which broadcast 22 games of Euro 2016, including one on its TMC channel, drew 155.041 million cumulative viewers, or an average of 7.047 million viewers per game.

TF1 broadcast the opening ceremony, followed by the first match of the tournament, France - Romania (2-1, on 10/06/2016, at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis) - as well as 11 other group stage games, six Round of 16 games, three quarter-finals, and the semi-final between Germany - France (0-2 ,on 07/07/2016 at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille). TF1 acquired the TV rights to these 22 games for an estimated €40m.

The semi-final between Germany - France (average of 19.231 million viewers, peaking at 22.2 million) allowed TF1 to draw the ninth largest audience ever for French television. The best performance of French television was in the semi-finals of the 2006 World Cup, for France - Portugal, which drew an average of 22.2 million viewers (audience share: 76.6%).

All 51 games of Euro 2016 were all also co-broadcast on the channels of the private, pay-TV group beIN Sports France.
