Le Sports acquires, via sublicense, 2016-2019 Premier League TV rights for China and Macau

Le Sports, the the sports branch of Le Eco, a Chinese company specialising in technology and digital content, acquired the 2016-2019 broadcasting rights to the Premier League for China and Macao, sublicensed from the Super Sports Media Group, on 06/07/2016. The transaction amount was not disclosed.

Le Sports acquired all 380 games of the competition per year. 230 will be available on all platforms, including "Le Sports VIP", the company's first pay-OTT offer in China, launched on 06/04/2016. The remaining 150 games remain exclusive to Super Sports, however Le Sports can provide access to these matches via the Super Sports platform to all its subscribers.

The Super Sports Media Group acquired the rights to all 380 games per season in the Premier League, for China and Macao (2013-2019 period), on 30/10/2012.

  • The 2016-17 Premier League season begins on 13/08/2016.
