UEFA: potential presidential candidates have until 20/07/2016 to declare (election on 14/09/2016)

"The UEFA Executive Committee today met in Basel (SUI) ahead of the Europa League final (Liverpool FC - Sevilla FC, 1-3) and decided on the timeline for UEFA Presidential elections. An Extraordinary UEFA Congress will be scheduled for 14/09/2016 in Athens (GRE). This Congress will also serve to elect the European female member to the FIFA Council. Candidates for both elections will have until 20/07/2016 to formally submit their candidature," stated UEFA, on 18/05/2016.

The deadline to submit candidatures was set eight weeks before the elective congress, the 12^th Extraordinary UEFA Congress. Michael van Praag, president of the Dutch Football Federation and UEFA vice-resident of UEFA, announced his candidacy on 18/05/2016.

Aleksander Ceferin, president of the Football Federation of Slovenia, was said to also be running for the UEFA presidency, on 08/06/2016, but, as of early July, UEFA have still not received his formal application.
