"Thanks to all those who have helped to make this competition such a success despite of all this unrest and protests," said Sepp Blatter, president of FIFA (International Federation of Association Football) in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) on the 01/07/2013.

The day after the Confederations Cup final, Blatter spoke of his optimism for the World Cup that Brazil will host in 2014 (from 12/06 to 13/07/2013), "The legacy will be that we will have an absolutely outstanding World Cup next year. I am happy and I am looking forward to it with optimism."

"It is important that this Confederations Cup went well, nothing was jeopardised," said Jerome Valcke, FIFA's secretary general. "It's a good sign for the World Cup." He added that next year, the World Cup will be for all Brazilians: "We will have fan zones and giant screens in different locations, maybe in the favelas and other places where people have no access to the stadium."
