France are set to host the 15th UEFA's (Union of European Football Associations) European Football Championship from the 10/06 to the 07/10/2016. For the first time since the tournament's creation in 1960, 24 teams will take part in 51 matches, which represents a 64.5% increase compared to 2012 (31 games).

France were awarded the Euros by UEFA's Executive Committee on the 28/05/2010, winning with seven votes to Turkey's six. Italy, the third candidate, were eliminated in the first round of voting.

This is the third time that the tournament is hosted in France. In 1960 (1st edition), the finals included only four teams and four games: semi-finals, third place playoff and the final. In 1984 (7th edition), eight teams played a total of 15 matches in France.

2.5 million visitors, of which 1 million travelling from abroad, are expected to attend Euro 2016, as opposed to 1.4 million in Poland and Ukraine in 2012.
