Pokémon Go: Jacksonville Jaguars (NFL) draw crowd 15,000 app players to their stadium

The NFL franchise Jacksonville Jaguars, in partnership with FanDuel, a daily fantasy league site (virtual sports leagues played on the internet), held a "Pokémon Safari" at EverBank Field (67,242 seats), Jacksonville (Florida, USA) on 25/07/2016.

Originally booked for 10,000 people, the success of this free operation exceeded the organisers' expectations. "We actually knew it would be big, but we didn't know how big it was going to get to...It's pretty amazing," said Steve Ziff, vice-president of marketing and digital media for the Jacksonville Jaguars, on 25/07/2016. In total, nearly 15,000 Pokémon Go fans participated in the event (between 18:00 and 20:00 local time) after registering on the website. The first 1,000 to register received a Pokémon badge as a gift.

"We know that everyone has been all over Jacksonville playing Pokémon GO, but have not had the opportunity to play inside EverBank Field. That’s why we’re opening up the stadium for our fans. We want all Jacksonville Pokémon trainers to be the very best and to catch ‘em all," added Steve Ziff.
