Euro 2016: new record as BBC iPlayer recieves 290 million views in June 2016

The BBC OTT TV and web radio platform BBC iPlayer saw a record 290 million views in June 2016, taking advantage of Euro 2016 and the Tennis Grand Slam tournament Wimbledon, announced the public broadcasting group on 27/07/2016. 31% of these views come from "triple play boxes" (internet, TV, telephone) and 38% of connections were made via tablets and mobiles.

This represents an increase of 6% compared to May 2016, and 39 million more page views than June 2015. The views for TV are 229 million for June 2016, which is a record for the OTT platform, an increase of 9% compared to May 2016. The number of live views of matches on TV comprised 11% of total views, the highest level since the 2014 World Cup. If combining radio and TV, BBC iPlayer registered a record 19.9 million unique visitors per week during the month of June.

The record for a single programme was the Euro 2016 group match between England - Wales (2-1, Group B), on 16/06/2016, which recorded 2.8 million TV views and 263,000 plays on web radio. The best mark for radio was the Round of 16 match between Spain - Italy (0-2)…
