MLS: SeatGeek becomes official ticketing partner, to enable purchases via e-commerce apps

SeatGeek, a US event ticketing platform, has become the official ticketing partner of MLS, the two parties announced on 27/07/2016. Financial terms and the exact duration of the "multiyear" partnership were not disclosed.

SeatGeek will work with MLS to develop a league-wide integrated ticketing platform, to include invidualised versions for each franchise, to be launched for the 2017 season. Specific priorities include enabling ticket sales on mobile platforms and opening up ticket resale/transfer to 3rd-party e-commerce websites (such as on Amazon, eBay, Airbnb, Apple Pay, etc.).

This is SeatGeek's first major partnership in sports. In addition to managing the ticketing platforms, SeatGeek also will also receive visibility (advertising boards, digital platforms, etc) on the same level as the other official partners of MLS.
