Ligue 1: Canal+ wants to switch 2 games onto Canal+ Sport, and change Sunday kick-off to 21:00

Canal+ has asked the LFP to move the kick-off of its Ligue 1 "match of the week" on Sunday nights from 20:45 to 21:00 CET, and also to transfer two games per matchday from the Canal+ generalist channel to the Canal+ Sport channel, according to the French newspaper L'Équipe on 29/07/2016. The 2016-17 Ligue 1 season begins on 12/08/2016. Canal+ acquired Lots 1 and 2 of domestic TV rights of the French top division for the 2016-2020 cycle, which includes three first-choice games each matchday, broadcast on Friday at 20:45, Saturday at 17:00, and Sunday at 20:45 (see below for details), on 04/04/2014.

• In the tender, the Sunday night Ligue 1 game was scheduled at 20:45, rather than at 21:00 in the previous 2012-2016 cycle. "Regarding the schedule, Canal+ asked us to have the Sunday evening kick-off moved to 21:00 instead of 20:45 as is stipulated in the contract," said Didier Quillot, the CEO of the LFP.
