Former German international Nadine Kessler, 28 years old, has been appointed as an ambassador for women's football development by UEFA, announced the European body on 29/07/2016.

"It's a great honour to have been invited to become a UEFA women's football development ambassador. As a former football player, I can contribute by sharing my story, my experiences and the lessons that I've learned along the way," said Nadine Kessler, at the UEFA European Women's Under-19 tournament, which ended with France defeating Spain (2-1), on 31/07/2016.

In 2014 Nicole Kessler was voted by UEFA as the best player in Europe, and received FIFA's title of Player of the Year in 2015.

"She will be remembered as one of the leading players in women's football in recent years. It is therefore an honour to welcome her to the UEFA family, and we look forward to working with her in her role of women's football development ambassador, helping to promote women's football across UEFA's 55 member associations," stated the European football confederation on 29/07/2016.
