Facebook: 230.8 million cumulative fans for the 20 Premier League clubs in 2016-17 (August 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League have 230.8 million cumulative fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 08/01/2016. This total makes the Premier League the most popular European league on Facebook, with 11.54 million fans on average per club.

Manchester United FC are the most followed English club, with 70.24 million fans, an increase of 643,000 fans (+0.9%) since June 2016, the last survey conducted by News Tank Football. Stoke City FC became the 13th Premier League club to cross the one million fans mark on Facebook, with the strongest growth over the summer (from 815,500 fans to 1,040,000, +27.8%).

The Premier League is the only European Top 5 league where no club has fewer than 250,000 fans on Facebook. AFC Bournemouth, last of the Premier League rankings with 282,000 fans, would be in at least in 15th place in the other major European leagues.
