Facebook: 210.5 million cumulative fans for the 20 LaLiga Santander clubs in 2016-17 (August 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander season have 210.5 million cumulative fans on the social network Facebook, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 01/08/2016. This total places LaLiga Santander second amongst the European Top 5 leagues on Facebook - behind the Premier League - with 10.52 million fans on average per club.

FC Barcelona are the most followed Spanish club, with 94 million fans, up 800,000 (+0.9%) since June 2016, the last survey conducted by News Tank Football. The Catalan club also leads the European rankings, ahead of Real Madrid CF, which is the club in the Top 5 leagues that obtained the highest number of new fans over the summer (+1.37 million, up to 91.6 million fans in total). The two clubs combine for 185,600,000 fans on Facebook, or 88% of the total of all LaLiga Santander clubs.

Third in the Spanish ranking, Club Atlético de Madrid have 13.3 million fans, more than the total of the remaining 17 clubs in the Spanish top division. Only seven LaLiga Santander clubs are followed by over one million people on Facebook.
