Twitter: 10.69 million cumulative subscribers for 20 Ligue 1 clubs in 2016-17 (August 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Ligue 1 season have 10.69 million cumulative followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 02/08/2016. This places Ligue 1 in fourth and penultimate place in the European Top 5 leagues - behind the LaLiga Santander, the Premier League, and the Serie A TIM - with 534,000 followers on average per club.

Paris Saint-Germain are the most followed club in France, with 3.71 million followers, up 130,000 (+3.6%) since June 2016, the last survey conducted by News Tank Football. Two other French clubs, Olympique de Marseille (2^nd, 1.76 million followers) and AS Monaco FC (3^rd, 1.04 million), are also among the 18 clubs in the Top 5 leagues with more than one million followers on Twitter.

Four Ligue 1 clubs are followed by fewer than 100 000 people on Twitter: Angers SCO (19^th, 51,500) and the three promoted teams for the 2016-17 season, FC Metz (17^th, 72,500), AS Nancy-Lorraine (18^th, 52,300) and Dijon FCO (20^th, 43,400).
