Twitter: 41.06 million cumulative followers for the 20 Premier League clubs in 2016-17 (August 2016)

The 20 clubs in the 2016-17 Premier League season have 41.06 million cumulative followers on the social network Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football on 02/08/2016. This places Premier League second in the European Top 5 leagues - behind LaLiga Santander - with 2.05 million followers on average per club.

Manchester United are the most-followed English club, with 8.32 million followers, up 500,000 (+6.4%) since June 2016, the last survey conducted by News Tank Football. Four other English clubs, Arsenal FC (2^nd, 7.75 million followers), Chelsea FC (3^rd, 7.16 million), Liverpool FC (4^th, 6.03 million), and Manchester City FC (5^th, 3.41 million) are also among the 10 clubs in the Top 5 leagues with more than three million followers on Twitter.

These five clubs together count 32,670,000 followers, or 80% of the total number of followers of Premier League clubs, which is the only league where no club has fewer than 100,000 followers on Twitter.
