Twitter: Top 100 European clubs with the most followers (August 2016)

With 35.16 million cumulative followers, FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) is the most followed club in Europe on Twitter, according to data compiled by News Tank Football, which features a Top 100 list of the most popular European clubs on this social network on 04/08/2016.

The figures used by News Tank Football in the Top 100 list include followers of a club's principal Twitter account, but also the additional official accounts in other languages. FC Barcelona has fewer followers, for example on its primary account than Real Madrid CF, ranked second in the overall Top 100 list - but the Catalan club is ahead in the overall list due to a higher number of followers on other official accounts. Together, the two Spanish giants total 61.96 million followers on Twitter, more than the following 12 clubs combined.

Each European Top 5 league has at least two representatives in the Top 20 of the list, and the Premier League is the most present with five clubs. Three clubs outside the Top 5 leagues are also among the top 20, the Turkish clubs Galatasaray SK (6^th, 6.79 million followers)…
