Rio 2016: Villarreal CF support 16 Spanish Olympic and Paralympic athletes

Villarreal CF (LaLiga Santander) are supporting, via the "Endavant Esports" programme, 16 Spanish athletes from the Castellón province (Valencian Community), participating in the Olympic and Paralympic Games at Rio di Janeiro 2016, taking place from 05 to 21/08/2016 and from 07 to 18/09/2016.

Created in 2004, the "Endavant Esports" programme aims to support the development of sport and the economy in the province of Castellón, where the city of Villarreal is located. Villarreal supported Olympic athletes for the first time for the Beijing Summer Olympic Games in 2008.

In total, nearly 10,000 athletes are supported via the "Endavant Esports" programme, in which the club invested €720,000 in the 2015-16 season. "When your sport generates the most money, you must share it with other sports. Villarreal think primarily about football, but uses part of its money for many other sports resources," said Fernando Roig, president of Villarreal CF, during a ceremony in honour of the participants in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, on 27/07/2016.
