Premier League: Kenyan firm SportPesa (betting) partner Arsenal, Hull City, Southampton in 2016-17

SportPesa, a Kenyan operator of online sports betting, has extended and expanded its partnership with Arsenal FC (Premier League), on 05/08/2016. SportPesa, the official betting partner of Arsenal in Kenya since 06/02/2016, and until the end of the 2015-16 season, extended its partnership with the "Gunners" to cover the entire African continent, from 2016- 17. While the duration of the new contract was not disclosed by the parties, Kenyan press has reported a three-year partnership (2016-2019).

Arsenal are not the only Premier League club to partner SportPesa, as the Kenyan sports betting operator has become main shirt sponsor of Hull City FC, a club promoted to the Premier League in 2016-17, on 25/07/2016. The partnership, brokered by the British agency Samson Sport Consultancy Ltd, covers three seasons (2016-2019) for a total amount of £10m (€11.7m as of 09/08/2016), "a record amount for the club," stated Hull City. SportPesa succeeds the Chinese sports betting operator of 12bet (2014-15) and Flamingo Land (amusement park, 2015-16) as the main shirt sponsor of the "Tigers".
