LaLiga Santander: financial penalties to be enforced when stadiums are less than 75% full

"LaLiga recommends that priority be given to the stand that sits in view of the main camera. The fill rate of these seats must be at least 75%, in the case of a fill rate of below 75% sanctions will apply and will toughen if the fill rate is less than 50%," says article 6.4 of the Regulation of the LaLiga Santander for the televising of the 2016-17 season, on 04/08/2016.

"Filling the stadium is part of the visual perception of the match; for optimum broadcast, the stadium must appear full. The match delegate will measure the density of the stands between the 1st and 30th minute," add the regulations issued by LaLiga. The Spanish league is also proposing to make available, for free, tarpaulins for clubs to cover the stands that are usually sparsely populated yet not exposed to the cameras during matches.

"The system of sanctions is based on a point system in which the regulatory infractions result in negative points. The monetary equivalent of each negative will be a fixed amount that will be decided upon each season. At the end of the season the sum of negatives will be calculated…
