"To increase the budget, we need to own the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard (42,000 seats), the symbol of Saint-Étienne, by triggering the Braillard law, which would allow us to have the management and operational control of the private boxes seven days a week for 365 days a year. The authorities seem to want to listen to us," said Roland Romeyer, president of the board of AS Saint-Étienne (Ligue 1), to Le Progrès, a regional newspaper, on 08/08/2016.

"In the marketing plan, we took over the management of our store, bought the hotel and the restaurant 'le Chaudron vert'. We also own our headquarters, training centres and academies, and we opened the first museum in France dedicated to a football club (130,000 visitors). The big European clubs are in the big cities. Saint-Étienne, with it's 170,000 residents, has limited means. However, all this has been achieved in five years, we have overachieved. We have the 7th or 8th biggest budget in France and at present we have a settled picture. I am satisfied. Currently, we cannot do much better," added Roland Romeyer.
