China: BesTV to broadcast Premier League online until 2018

Chinese internet TV channel BesTV have extended their contract to broadcast the Premier League in China and Macau until 2018, the company announced on the 01/07/2013. BesTV have had a contract with the Premier League since 2010.

The BesTV New Media Group have acquired these rights from Super Sports Media Inc., a media rights and marketing agency based in the Cayman Islands who own the distribution license for the Premier League in China and Macau from 2013-2019.

The contract that Super Sports Media Inc. signed with the Premier League on the 30/10/2012, concerns TV, internet and mobile rights, for an estimated $50m (€38.4m). The distribution license was previously owned by Win TV between 2010 and 2013.

BesTV also announced that they have acquired a 14% stake in Super Sports Media Inc. for $1.85m (€1.42m).
