Premier League: attendance for Matchdays 1 and 2 of the 2016-17 season

Matchday 1 of the 2016-17 Premier League season - played from 13 to 15/08/2016 - drew an average of 33,502 spectators per game, against an average 35,249 for Matchday 2, held from 19 to 21/08/2016.

Manchester United FC - Southampton FC (2-0), the opening match of Matchday 2, recorded the highest attendance of the 2016-17 season so far, with 75,326 spectators at Old Trafford (capacity 75,649, and thus a fill rate of 99.5%), on Friday, 19/08/2016 (kick-off at 20:00 BST).

After the first two matchdays of 2016-17, the average attendance of the English first division is 35,125 spectators per match, for an average stadium fill rate of 94%. The 20 Premier League clubs registered a final average of 36,409 spectators per match during the 2015-16 season, with a stadium fill rate of 96%.
