Africa: Econet Media acquires the TV rights to the Brazilian championships for 19 countries

Econet Media (South Africa) acquired a sub-license via Brazilian broadcaster Globo for the TV rights to the Brazilian first division championships - Brasileiro Serie A (May to December) and Sao Paulo State League (February May) - for 19 countries in Africa, over the 2016-2018 period, on 15/08/2016. The agreement allows the South African telecommunications group to broadcast 110 matches from the Brasileiro section and 43 from the São Paulo State League over the course of the season, and are to conclude sub-licensing agreements in the areas concerned (see list below).

This selection of Brazilian football will be broadcast on Kwese platforms, including the free-TV channel Kwese Free Sports, launched on 11/08/2016. Kwese will also broadcast two weekly magazines dedicated to Brazilian football, "FootBrazil" and "FootBrazil Highlights".
