LaLiga Santander: over 2 million viewers in Spain for Matchday 1 of the 2016-17 season

At least 2.052 million viewers on average watched of nine of the 10 games from of Matchday 1 of the 2016-17 LaLiga Santander, held from 19 to 22/08/2016 (the TV audience for Real Sociedad - Real Madrid CF, 0-3, on 21/08/2016, on Movistar Partidazo pay-TV channel, has not been disclosed).

The best audience of the weekend was for FC Barcelona - Real Betis Balompié (6-2), which allowed the pay-TV channel beIN LaLiga to draw 505,000 viewers on average, on Saturday, 20/08/2016 (18:15 CET). This figure represented a 5.9% audience share for the channel co-launched by Qatari beIN Media Group and the Spanish broadcaster Mediapro on 14/07/2016. This ranked first in the Spanish pay-TV market for the entirety of the day of 20/08/2016.

On Spanish free-TV, the Malaga CF - CA Osasuna (1-1) game was followed by 210,000 viewers on average on Gol (a Mediapro channel, relaunched on 02/06/2016) on Friday, 19/08/2016 (kick-off at 20:45 CET). This figure represented a 2.1% audience share.
