Bundesliga: Schalke 04 draw 100,000 fans to the 2016-17 season launch event

FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) drew 100,000 fans to their launch event for the 2016-17 season, organised on the day of the last friendly match of the club's pre-season, against Athletic Club Bilbao (LaLiga Santander) at the Veltins Arena (61,973 seats), on 14/08/2016.

"Schalke Day" is a free event held annually which brings together leaders, staff, players, sponsors, and supporters in an atmosphere that the club wants to be "fun and personal". Many activities were organised from 10am onwards such as quizzes, challenges with the players, as well as question and answer sessions.

The day ended with the friendly match against Athletic Club (3-2), which kicked off at 17:00 CET. Fans had to pay to attend the match, for which tickets were priced at between €10 and €19 (€5 reduced price).

• Schalke 04 finished in 5^th place (52 points) in the 2015-16 Bundesliga German professional football first division. 18 clubs.  table.
  • The club will play in the group stage of the 2016-17 Europa League.
• Schalke 04 will start their 2016-17 Bundesliga season against Eintracht Frankfurt, on 27/08/2016.
