The Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games drew, in France, an average of 2.66 million viewers for prime time on the public channels France 2 and France 3, from 06 to 21/08/2016. France 2 had an average of 2.26 million viewers between 14:00 and 19:55, from 06 to 21/08/2016.

The best audience for the channel was registered during the afternoon of the last day of the Olympics, on Sunday, 21/08/2016, with an average of 3 million viewers and an audience share of 25.5%.

The 18:00 - 19:55 time slot on Sunday, 21/08/2016, allowed France 2 to draw an average of 4.19 million viewers with an audience share of 30%. This figure primarily relates to the broadcasting, from 19:00 CET, of Denmark - France (28-26), the final of the men's Olympic handball tournament.

Then, the 19:55 to 20:55 time slot allowed France 3 to draw an average of 5.17 million viewers and an audience share of 26.3%. France 3 figures include a peak audience of 6.2 million viewers at 20:24, during the end of the final of the men's Olympic handball tournament.
