Spain: CB Sevilla (basketball) have changed their name and are now called Real Betis Energía Plus

Club Baloncesto Sevilla (basketball, Liga ACB) have changed their name and are now called Real Betis Energía Plus, announced the Andalusian club on 17/08/2016. The basketball club have adopted the name, the colours, and the crest of Real Betis Balompié (LaLiga Santander).

Energía Plus, a Spanish distributor and electricity supplier to businesses, became the title sponsor of the club from the 2016-17 season onward. The company will also be the main shirt sponsor of the basketball club until the 2020-21 season. In addition, Energía acquired the majority of the club's shares from the CaixaBank, the former owner.

"Over the coming weeks, we will present the season ticket campaign for the 2016-17 season, with affordable prices and benefits for previous subscribers of CB Sevilla and for current Real Betis Balompié season ticket holders. Real Betis Energía Plus is the basketball team of the city and we want to be inclusive, so we came up with this idea of integration," said Ángel Haro, president of Real Betis Balompié, on 17/08/2016.
